Routine
Establish a bedtime routine with your child to help them get used to the process of winding down before going to sleep.
For example:
Brush teeth
Go to the toilet
Put on pyjamas
Say goodnight to stuffed toys
Read a book
Lights out
For older children, the routine may include additional things with less guidance from you, such as a relaxation activity, free time to play a quiet game, read alone etc.
If you would like to introduce relaxation activities into your child’s routine but aren’t sure where to start, check out our relaxation strategies.
