The Results are in…!

The past couple of weeks we had been anxiously waiting for both mine and Sam’s blood test results.

The reason being, a little over a month ago we experienced a miscarriage.

Since miscarriages are quite common we were surprised (and a little bit nervous) when our OB arranged for testing of our fetus.

We found that there was a chromosomal abnormality, and although that is the most common reason for miscarriage, he thought it best for both of us to have blood tests to check whether either of us was the carrier of a defective gene.

So we had our tests and were waiting (for what we expected to be a 3 week wait) for the results to come in.

Luckily for us, I received a text message after only a week and a half saying that both our results came back normal! Massive sigh of relief to know that the miscarriage was just a chance occurrence and (hopefully) won’t happen again!

We now know that our chances of having a healthy full-term pregnancy are exactly the same as before (about 1 in 6 pregnancy’s end in miscarriage).

I know 1 in 6 can sound scary, but I prefer to look at it from the point of view that once you find out you’re pregnant, there is more than an 80% chance that everything will turn out just fine!
